Gay and I met when I went to college in North Bay. We became good friends and I'd go over to Browning Street every morning to pick her up for school. My family had an auto dealership I used to drive whatever no one else wanted so for a long time our ride was a not so cool 12 passenger van and we'd laugh about how huge it was and the extra 10 seats in the back. Gay was always impeccably dressed, she'd look all Chanelish…I tended to casual comfort and I'd tease her about her pressing her jeans with the perfect crease down the front. The exception was after school when we'd hurry back to her place to see the Y&R, she'd slip into comfort mode and we'd have tea with her Mom. Although we didn't see a lot of each other over the next 30 plus years, we'd talk and kept updated on the significant events in each others lives, getting together when circumstance allowed. I liked to give her a hard time about Liskeard only being an hour and a half up the road and we'd laugh.
Gay was a strong woman, proud, classy and steadfast in her beliefs. We never failed to have a good laugh when we got together. Gay's family meant everything to her and she was very proud of her boys. I always loved hearing Joe call her Gaysie (sp?), they had a long history together and there will be many many fond memories for Joe, Stephen and Nicholas.
