Obituary of Joy Bernice Guppy

GUPPY – Joy Bernice The Guppy family sadly announces Joy’s death at Nipissing Manor, Corbeil on Monday July 7, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Alfred Guppy in 1983 she was the dearly loved mother of Brenda McLennan (Doug) of North Bay and the cherished grandmother of Terry Wojick (Chris) of North Bay; and their children Nick, Brandon and Abigale, Scott Wojick (Trista) of Dallas Texas; and their children Tyler, Caleb and Kinley, and Wendy Bishop (Dave) of Sudbury; and their children Jessica and Jonathan. Joy is also survived by Len Guppy of North Bay. Predeceased by her brother Lloyd “Chippy” Saunders, and her sisters Doreen Riopel and June Dwyer. Born and raised near Burk’s Falls Joy moved to Temagami in 1940. She worked and raised her family there until relocating to North Bay in 2001. As well as being a dedicated wife and mother she worked for many years as a secretary for the OPP, at the Temagami Public School, and finally for the MNR before retiring. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in St. Elizabeth’s Church, Temagami, at 11:00am Saturday July 26, 2014. Interment of her ashes will be in the family plot in Haileybury. If desired donations to the International Waldemstrom Foundation in Joy’s memory will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
