Obituary of Donald George Squires

SQUIRES – Donald George The Squires family sadly announces Don’s death at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the age of 84. For the past 40 years Don had been the devoted and loving husband of Joan (nee Myatt). The proud and loving father of Brenda Sirard of Sudbury and Donna Davidson (Mike Doucette) of North Bay, he will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Daniel, Micaela and Christopher. Born on Change Island, Newfoundland, Don was one of eight children born to Arthur and Maude Squires. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Pearl Jones (Harvey) and Wallace (Goldie) both of Newfoundland, Elsie Ledrew (Hayward deceased) of Huntsville, and Stella (Erven deceased) of Brampton, and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Sue Moyles and brothers Roy and Maxwell. His canine pal Jet, whom he walked every day when he was able, will also miss Don’s companionship. Don will be remembered by many for his 23 years working with Oshawa Foods at North Bay Food City. He was a dedicated member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #271 and the Rebekah Lodge # 152. . Members of the Rebekah’s will honour him with a memorial service in the funeral home at 7:30pm Tuesday evening. Friends may call at Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 – 9 pm. and again on Wednesday June 4th from 1:00pm until time for services in the chapel at 2:00pm . Cremation will follow.
