I joined the military in 1990, and after completing Basic Training I went to CFB Petawawa to attend Infantry Battle School. It was a 17 week course that by the end of, we were very glad to have completed. Graduation from this course was an accomplishment I will never forget, and I was very happy to be able to share it with Aunty Anne and Uncle Jim. They came down from North Bay, put themselves up in a local hotel and attended the graduation ceremony. Now as a bunch of young and energetic new soldiers, we had a party that evening that our families were able to attend. Aunty Anne and Uncle Jim participated in the celebration as well or better than most of us that night. I will never forget the comments made to me about how my Aunt and Uncle stayed after others had departed, continuing the celebration with us. This was a significant moment for me, as that was the beginning of my military career and I am very grateful I had family there to share it with.
As a military family, Aunty Anne and Uncle Jim knew all too well the stress that training and being away from family brought to the individuals. By attending this significant moment in my life, they imparted on me the importance of family in all our accomplishments. I don't think I ever told them how appreciative I was, I would like to do so here.
Thank you. May you rest in peace Aunty Anne.

Uncle Jim its with a heavy heart that I am writing you this condolence for aunt Anne. my thoughts and parers go out to you and the family at this time of sorrow. But I am glad that aunt Anne does not have to suffer any more and she is now in heaven. I miss the days that we would all be together at Grandmas house playing hide and seek with the boys.life did not seem so harsh as it does when you lose a loved one and aunt Anne was loved very much by all of us. I wish you all the best in this time of sorrow but we did not lose aunt Anne we gained a Angle to watch over us all.

A mon amie Brenda and her family. Words are often difficult to express and help during this time of sorrow, however I find this poem to be of great solace: Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on the snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. Written by Mary Frye (1932)
