Obituary of Simon Carriere

CARRIERE: Simon 64, of North Bay, passed away at the North Bay Hospital on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Born December 25, 1949 in Corbiel to the late Oscar and Lucienne Carriere. Simon was a man who fully embraced life and lived his to the full in a beautiful simplicity that so many seek, but never find. Simon loved the Lord with all his heart and sought to do everything possible to follow His leading. He clung to the promises he found in the scriptures and lived a life that testified to the deep love and goodness of God. Simon loved his family deeply and would do anything for them. From the youngest to the oldest they each held special places deep in his heart. It was simply being together that brought joy to him. Simon was an avid fisherman and loved working with wood and his hands. He could fix and would try to fix almost anything. He loved playing guitar and regularly led worship with Pat and his dear friends at St. Brice’s. Simon worked for over 43 years at Aunt May’s (Canada Breads) and held many positions over his time there. Simon is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Maureen and husband Ryan of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, son Neal and wife Michelle of Mount Forest. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Joshua Brown, Alethea Brown, Samuel Carriere, Abbi Carriere, Nate Carriere, Sophie Carriere; brothers Marcel, Louic; sisters Therese, Yvette, Yvonne and Julie. Visitation for Simon will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home today from 2-4 and 7-9:00 PM. A Funeral services will be held at St. Brice’s Anglican Church (1225 Cassells Street) on Saturday, January 4, at 1:00 P.M. Cremation will follow the Service.
