I was saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Murray. Paul will be missed. He was always a person who had a greeting for you. Paul would always make time for me when I had questions during the two and a half years that I worked with him. I had a great deal of respect for Paul Murray, and I know that other members of the profession in North Bay did as well.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of meeting Paul for the first time (after being friends with his sis for many many years). He made the most beautiful wedding speech/toast I've ever heard. Filled with emotion, with laughter & especially with deep love. I am grateful to have shared this time with Paul & his family.

My best memory of Paul was the first time I met him. Many years ago I was going to spend Christmas alone. Allison invited me to her dads for Christmas so I wouldn't be alone (as I was about to find out Allison wasn't the only Murray with a big heart). If I remember correctly it was Christmas Eve when I was invited so Paul didn't have much notice of me coming. When I got there he was very kind to me as he always was and we had a great supper. They began to open gifts between them. Then there was one present with my name on it from Paul. I was touched as I am now telling the story. I opened it and it was a novel about Canadian history. I could not believe that Paul got me a present with little notice so that I would not be left out in unwrapping gifts. It's something I will never forget. It was great enough to invite me over but to do that as well is unbelievable and shows you what kind of man he is.

I had the enormous pleasure of working with Paul in the Othello Project. During rehearsals and out at the pub we would share a laugh and a pint. As a joke, we would often look at one another and then tell each other to f-off! and then start laughing hysterically. It was like we were two little boys who recently discovered that word and got a kick out of saying it. I will forever remember his great sense of humour and what a generous person he was on and off the stage. I think everyone who met him was magnetically drawn to him because of those qualities. I will think of him fondly and miss him dearly.
