Every Sunday afternoon as long ago as I remember my mom, dad, Cheryl, Landra, Jim, and myself piled into the car after church and lunch at our home in North Bay, and drove down to our Nanny and Grampa's farm in Mattawa. Guy, Andy, and Linda lived there with Nanny and Grampa and I have fond memories spending a lot of time there. Andy impressed me with his "can do" attitude. Always eager to please and help, Andy seemed to run everywhere, whether it was fetching some wood for the woodstove or something from the garden. I don't remember him ever hesitating when asked to do something. He loved and respected them and the feelings were mutual as I could tell they loved and respected him very much too. Occasionally in the summer Andy, Guy and us girls would play tackle football together in the field. I was always respected and treated kindly by Andy and Guy. When Andy was young he had a brown leather zip-up binder that had a horses head carved in it. I always thought he would grow up to be a cowboy:) He was such a caring guy-he made sure my dad was taken care of after he was diagnosed with cancer, even though dad lived in Peterborough and Andy lived near North Bay. Andy has possessed that "go to" attitude his whole life-always taking care of his loved ones-it's just the way he was-what an amazing man! My life was better for having had Andy in it!
