Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It's with great sadness that the Cameron family announces the passing of a most cherished father and grandfather at his home in North Bay on Saturday August 31st 2013. Ian was the beloved husband of the late Helen Pamela Cameron (Carson). Loving father of Dianne of Toronto, Robert (Veronica) of Sundridge and Moira (Glenn) of Sturgeon Falls. Cherished grandfather "Papa" of Heather (Will), Taylor, Breanna and Makenna. Ian is survived by his dear sister Jean McNair, and many nieces and nephews in Scotland. He will be greatly missed by his dearest friend Ann Coyne. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Rachel Cameron, sisters Cathy, Nancy, Jessie and brother Doogie. Ian was born in Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on December 4th 1925. He was a curling stone maker in Scotland and was recruited to River Valley, ON in 1963 to continue his trade. He moved his family over at that time. Ian was employed at Drill Systems making diamond drill bits. Later on in his life he worked for Fosdicks and Moyer Printing. He was a founding member of the North Bay Burns Club and a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church. Ian was an avid golfer and Montreal Canadiens fan. He loved hockey and supported all the North Bay teams and was looking forward to attending the Battalion games. Two of his greatest passions were singing and his grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the dialysis unit at the NBRHC for the wonderful care given to Ian over the past 5 months. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday from 12 - 1 pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1 pm. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired donations to the North Bay Regional Health Center-Renal Unit would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy (cheques only please).
