Life long North Bay resident Wayne Quirt died peacefully at the North Bay Regional Hospital on Friday June 14, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. For the past 57 years Wayne has been the devoted and loving husband of Norma (nee Ehler). The proud and loving father of Kathryn Douglas (Ted) of Redbridge, Valerie Sullivan (Randy) of North Bay and Wendy Manzie (Kevin) of Sarnia, he will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren David Douglas (Amanda), & Michael Douglas, Jennifer, James and Jessica Sullivan ( fiancé Randy Ringuette) and Alex, Ryan & Emily Manzie, and his great grandchildren Rachel, Rebecca , Joshua & Allison Douglas. Wayne was predeceased by his brothers Mervin & Harold and his sister Gloria Russell. An electrician by trade, most of his career was spent as the electrical supervisor at the North Bay & District Airport. An aviation enthusiast Wayne had a keen interest in anything relating to airplanes. He built and flew his own airplane and with his partner established Aero Craft, an airplane service company located at the North Bay airport. For many years he served as the President of Nipissing Model Airplane Club “NIPMAC” and over the years had accumulated a large collection of planes. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. There will be a Private funeral service held followed by the interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations to the All Heart Pet Rescue or M.A.D.D. Nipissing will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
