Obituary of Lenna Mae Ackroyd

ACKROYD – Lenna Mae Long time North Bay resident Lenna Ackroyd died peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday March 26, 2013, at the age of 94 years. For 62 years she had been the beloved wife of the late Ray Ackroyd. He predeceased her in 2005. The proud and loving mother of Ron (Betty), and Arlene Dool (Ron) all of North Bay, and Roslyn Lima (John Bromby) of Bermuda, she was predeceased by her son Alan and his wife Shelly. She will be lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Born in New Liskeard, Lenna was the daughter of the late Hiram & Mary Proctor. She was predeceased by all of her siblings; Carl & Reg Proctor, and her sister Mildred Hinds. She and Ray moved their family to North Bay in the late 1950’s. A naturally gifted musician she played both the organ and piano. For many years she faithfully served the congregation of Calvin Presbyterian Church as the organist and choir director. A dedicated wife and mother she taught piano from her home for many years. She will continue to be fondly remembered by her many students for the time and talents that she shared. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Donations in memory of Lenna to the Community Waterfront Friends, or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
