Please share a memory of Malcolm to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away peacefully, at Cassellholme on Friday March 22, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on June 10, 1929 in Southern Bay, Newfoundland. Mac was the son of the late Martha Prince and Joseph Yetman. Mac is survived by his wife Donna, friend Mary and children Judy (Jim), Jeffrey, Laurie (Chris), P.J. (Jody), Barry (Kelly), sister Hilda and brother Reg (Elsie) and 7 wonderful grandchildren. Predeceased by Krista (2012). Mac left Newfoundland in 1950 and headed to Toronto where he met his first wife Mary. They moved to North Bay in 1953. A welder by trade and an entrepreneur at heart, he started Central Welding and Iron Works and J & J Machine Shop. Mac’s career changed directions in 1971 when he purchased the Ascot Motel, which he owned and operated for a number of years. In a joint venture with Dale Neily and Steve Allen they purchased the Commodore Hotel. Mac discovered golf and Florida. Every winter for many years you could find him on a golf course, so much so that he purchased his own course, the Kissimmee Golf Club in 1985. Mac loved to duck hunt and enjoyed his many trips out west with his buddies and their dogs. He was a member of the North Bay Golf and Country Club and every summer he would get ready for the “big game” and the 19th hole. He will be fondly remembered for his deep laugh, large smile, engaging hospitality and ability to turn manure into gold. The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Cassellholme for their exceptional care and compassion over the last three years. Cremation has taken place; however visitation with the family will occur on Thursday, March 28/2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay. There will be a reception following the visitation at Woodlands Recreation Centre on Lindsay Street North Bay. In lieu of flowers memorial donations for Mac can be made to the PPDCR- Krista Johnson Memorial Fund 44 William Road, Chapeau, QC J0X 1M0 or charity of your choice.
