Obituary of Dorothy May Kightley

Kightley - Dorothy May (nee Tye) In her 95th year, passed away peacefully at Cassellhome on Tuesday March 12, 2013. Dorothy was the beloved mother of her daughter June (Dorwin) Thomas of Fort Myers, Florida, and her youngest son Mel (Sharon) of North Bay. The beloved Grandmother of Kimberly (Heinz) Schilling of Edmonton, Wanda (David) Neal, of Mississauga ON, Wade (Claudette) Kightley, of North Bay, Chad (Jennifer) of North Bay, Timothy (Darlene) of Halton Hills, Cindy (Jim) Kislinsky of North Bay, & Norman (Freda) Kightley, of Cambridge ON, and the Great Grandmother of 10, and Great Great Grandmother of 3. Predeceased by her loving husband Herbert in 1976, and her eldest son Reg in 2008, both well known local Building Contractors. Predeceased by her parents Claude and May Tye and her brothers Almund, and Percy Tye, and sister Lucy Kelly. Dorothy was an active member of the Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Club, Salvation Army, Golden Age Club, and the Golden Age Music Makers. She loved to travel, take Elderhostel trips, read, play her piano and organ, watch Golf and old movies including the Waltons on TV, and play with Amber her faithful rag doll cat. The family will be receiving friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME North Bay on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel at 1:30pm on Saturday March 16, 2013. Donations in memory of Dorothy Kightley may be made to the Cancer Society, or a charity of one's choice.
