Obituary of Barbara Eleanor Scott
Barbara Eleanor Scott (nee Sterritt).
Barbara passed away peacefully on March 1st, 2013.
She will be remembered by her loving husband Garry, her children Tim (Paula), Kimi Broberg (Rob) and Kristina Wyman (Nick), and her nine cherished grandchildren Ryan, Nick, Zack, Jordan, Mandy, Dana, Matthew, Jennifer and Kurt. She is survived by her two sisters Linda Jarvis (Lou) and Janet Cousins (Duke).
Barbara was born in Toronto June 26, 1939, and grew up near Burnhamthorpe and Dixie Road in the west end of the city. Barbara and Garry were married April 6, 1963 and moved to North Bay in January of 1964. North Bay has remained home ever since, and together Barbara and Garry are grateful for their many endearing lifelong friendships.
Barbara was an avid sportsperson and fan. She bowled, downhill skied, played softball, tennis and golf over the years. Barbara was true to the blue and white, and forever cheered for the Leafs, Argos and Jays. She never missed an opportunity to watch her grandchildren play or perform, be it in North Bay, Waterloo or Marshall, Texas. Her eternal message to them reads, “To thine own self be true”.
She was a member of Living Fit and enjoyed her bridge club afternoons with the girls.
The cottage was her happy place with family, friends and fun at the top of the list.
Family will be receiving friends at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 9th at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Bay Food Bank or The Gathering Place (cheques only) will be gratefully acknowledged by her family.
“We will thank you every day for your selfless gifts, your caring way and your love. We will look for you among the stars tonight, and know which one is you.”
