van Nood, Maurits
Passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday, May 2, 2014, he was in his 87th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Agnes (nee Teljeur) and his daughter Carol. Loving father of John, Darlene (James) and Jeff (Julie). Proud grandfather of Heidi, Shelby, Hailey, Ashleigh, Courtney, Jamie and Brendan. Dearly loved brother of Annie, Suus, Mech, Arie, Adrie, and Corrie and predeceased by Bill and Nely.
He endured the Second World War as a young man before immigrating to Canada in the early 1950's. And although he has been in Canada for most of his life, his heart remains true to his Dutch heritage with their travelling canals, their old cheeses, and smoked mackerel.
His love for the simple things in life like Saturday morning breakfasts, hockey games, fishing as the sun sets at the cottage, blossoming flowers, and the first ripe vegetable of the season (especially his green beans), will never be dimmed. It has only transcended in his family's hearts.
A special thanks to the medical staff that surrounded him with such compassion and comfort at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, as well as the Cardiac Medical Unit in Sudbury.
Family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, May 7th, 2014 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the service. If desired, donations to L'Arch North Bay or Heart & Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
