Obituary of Marie Lyaine Dixon

DIXON (nee Sauvé): Lyaine Died on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Mattawa Hospital at the age of 89 years old. She was pre-deceased by her eight siblings 4 sisters and 4 brothers. At the age of eighteen she joined the women's Royal Canadian Naval Service. After the War 1939-1945, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto, and then served with the Victorian Order of Nurses for 4 years. She then enrolled with the UN World Health Organization as a nurse educator where she was assigned to Cambodia and met her husband John Dixon. They returned to Canada in 1960. They became teachers at F.J. McElligott Secondary School for a number of years. John Dixon died in 1975. There will be no visitation at her request. Cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will follow in the family plot at the Pine Hills Cemetery, Mattawa. Donations will be accepted in Memory of Mrs. Dixon to the Mattawa Hospital. Left to remember her are Gay, Emile, Laurie, Danny, Pat, René, Linda and Lee. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com
