Obituary of Marie Lyaine Dixon

DIXON (nee Sauvé): Lyaine Died on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Mattawa Hospital at the age of 89 years old. She was pre-deceased by her eight siblings 4 sisters and 4 brothers. At the age of eighteen she joined the women's Royal Canadian Naval Service. After the War 1939-1945, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto, and then served with the Victorian Order of Nurses for 4 years. She then enrolled with the UN World Health Organization as a nurse educator where she was assigned to Cambodia and met her husband John Dixon. They returned to Canada in 1960. They became teachers at F.J. McElligott Secondary School for a number of years. John Dixon died in 1975. There will be no visitation at her request. Cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will follow in the family plot at the Pine Hills Cemetery, Mattawa.
