Obituary of John Hugh Andrew Thayer

THAYER – John Hugh Andrew July 6, 1947 – July 6, 2012 After a valiant battle with cancer, John passed away on his 65th birthday at home with his family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Susan (Churcott). John was the loving father of Kim Birmingham, Sally Birmingham (Allan), and Michael (Dawn). Gramps will forever be missed by his cherished grandsons, Zackary, Nikolas, Mason and Owen. These boys gave him years of great enjoyment, fishing, hunting, talking conservative politics, and sharing the many tales that go along with them. He is survived by his siblings Robert (Micheline),Billy (Connie), Lillian (Earl), Lois, and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents Jack and Elsie, siblings Ray, Diana, Mary and Florence. He is greatly loved and will be missed by his dear mother in law Margaret and the entire Churcott family in Chase B.C. His grace, dignity and strength throughout his battle should be an inspiration to us all. Sue and family would like to extend a special Thank You to all of those that made John’s journey easier and more comfortable. A special thanks to Dr. Vaughn & Leah; Gwen, Linda, Heather and the rest of the teams at the V.O.N., C.C.A.C; Dr.’s Ishak & Robinson; as well as to Pam and her team at Robinson’s Pharmasave. You will never know how much you’ve touched all of our lives. We could never have done this without all of you. As per John’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a private family service at a later date. If desired donations can be made in John’s name to the Daffodil Lodge, or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
