Obituary of Gertrude Rachael Burkett

BURKETT: Gertrude Rachael Passed away peacefully at Kitchener on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 90 years old. Gertrude (nee Ranger) was the beloved wife of the late Leon Burkett. Loving mother of Walter Kaniecki (Nina) of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, David Burkett (Alison) of Kitchener and Paul Burkett of New Liskeard. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Walter Kaniecki (Louise), Sean Burkett (Pauline), Andrew Burkett (Niamh), Craig Burkett, Erica Doucet (Sylvain), Robert Burkett (Adrienne), and great grandchildren Kellen, Zachary, Jessie, Libby, Ellis, and Leo. Dearly loved sister of Alec, Irma, Jack and Merle. Gertrude will also be remembered by Barbara Broad, Jo Vaillancourt, Lise Perry, Carolyn Ryan and Karen Burkett. Predeceased by her parents Harry Ranger and the former Gertrude (nee Paxie), by her brothers Larry, Patrick and Mike and by her daughter-in-law Karen. Gertrude’s family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and on Friday, May 18th from 1:00 Pm until service time in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM, Pastor James Brown presiding. Reception to follow. Gertrude was an avid bridge player and with Leon was a founding member of the Callander Horticultural Society.
