What a guy! Funny, warm, friendly...Barrie and Al played basketball together for the Pepsi's...but I knew Al long before that...we are old high school friends. Barrie and I moved away from North Bay, but we will always remember having our annual chats with Al at the golf club when Barrie went to play in the men's inviational...and I would be there for the party..He was a good athlete...a marvellous friend...and funny! Oh my how we two would lsugh....this is what I will always remember...We still visit the Bay often...so our good memories remain fresh!

We were so privileged to know Al...Me, from NBCI & VS,and Barrie from the Garland Pepsi's(late 50's early 60's)After Barrie and I moved away from the Bay, but on our frequent visits back to North Bay,it allowed us to see Al at the North Bay Golf Club, where his marvellous smile and delightful wink, would let us know nothing had changed and good memories would abound! Oh those Pepsi boys and their basketball..just great great games no matter where they were, the Sault, Timmins, Kirkland Lake, and of course those Sudbury games. The boys, on evenings mid week, would drive over there, play the game, have a few beers, then drive home...definitely a 60's era kind of time..drink and drive and no seatbelts. Makes one shudder now! The "after game celebrations" were legend,...but it was the level of play...truly high level, great basketball. We remember Al,with love and a big smile. Those games bring us other great memories, George Martyn and his constant pursuit to play better and was inspiration to his buddies,, and Johnny Johnson, his heart was huge and he was so well respected by all who were priviledged to know him. There were a few celebrations that may have appeared a "tad" out of control, but the basketball was so good!!!!and the camaraderie was special amongst the fellows... I think at that time, Billy Morland was the captain, a priest from Scollard was the coach?, George and Ann were super people to be around at anytime,( as were Bill and Bea) let alone during "the season". Yes, we were so saddened when we heard of Al being pursued by Alzheimers...difficult to believe and for you, his family, most difficult to see and live with. ...so please, during this most difficult time for you, his family, know that he was so well liked, admired, and such fun to be around, not only in High School, but as a marvellous man...we will remember him like this...and we are so lucky to be able to do that!I truly hope that you can do this too, during these difficult days. With love, Phyllis(Cullen) and Barrie McLeod
