Jimmy worked for me at LHD from March of 1979 until I sold the Co. in 1989. During that period, we became friends and were as close as an employer and employee relationship would allow. Respect was the key Word. I hired many of Jim's friends in the welding department and guess what? They were mostly musicians. We used to shut the shop down early, once a month, and celebrate any occasion that was appropriate at the time. Jim would get his friends and we would have a Jam Session in the shop for a couple of hours. At one time we had a guitar player (Jim), base guitar, violin and also a banjo picker. We would all gather, secretaries, machinists, welders, management and sales. The key phrase at these sessions, was, "We don't talk Shop" They don't do that anymore.
Jim liked his job, however, he loved design projects where he had to apply his ingenuity and capability into any project that I gave him. I always remember the pride he put into designing a special hydraulically controlled box for the back of our 5 ton boom truck. His trade mark was in the several repair benches he designed and built for our cylinder repair department over the years. Many of them are still working and producing today.
The last time I spoke to Jim, he expressed his pride and joy he had for his family and that every time he spoke of them, the buttons wanted to pop off his shirt. `His words precisely` Jim earned my respect and friendship and he will not be forgotten. Tom and Lucy Fraser.

As many people already know, my dad was well liked by people who got to know him. As a child, I just knew he was a lot of fun to be around, and I could sit in his presence for hours in complete fascination. He was an interesting guy. As a young adult I came to realize that he had a very clear philosophy about people that made it easy to love the man. As a foreman at LHD, I got to see how well liked he was by all the other men who worked there, when I worked there part-time for the summer. I asked him about why he was treated so well by the guys that worked for him, everyone seemed to love working for him. He said it was very simple to be a leader of a group of men. "Treat all men with respect and they will in turn show you with respect" Later in life, when I got married, my dad shared another great piece of advice, not just directed to me but to everyone in attendance... "The secret to life is simple", he said, "treat all women in your life with respect, and your life will be just fine". No wonder he was so loved by so many people. Dad, I love you with all my heart and you will be missed by many.

My Buddy Jim Loved music, he often talked of the bands he was in.But by the twinkle in his eye when he told me of, Him, Cris, and Leon playing together, I could tell how much he loved them times and just how proud he was.He allso talked about playing with Kenny and god has called him to compleat his journey to his dream of playing again. Most of all thing I noted was how Proud he was of his family and his loved ones. He could never say anything bad about people he had loved in his life.So I will be Praying for everyone to deal with his passing ,Cause I know Jim is playing with others that he played in bands and Jamed with, and I know he will be playing when god calls me. Love ya Jim My brother from anouther mother. Ed
