Patti and Family, My Condolences on the passing of parents and grandparents over this short time. We haven't met but Hector's father and my Great Grandfather John Joseph Fitzmaurice were brothers. I have been researching the family tree and returned to the Fitzmaurice side after emailing with some cousins still in London. Feel free to contact me if you would like me to share the family information with you.

We extend our condolences to the family. We have given a donation to the North Bay Regional Health Centre in memory of Hector and Esther and they will send our card to the funeral home for the family. Frank was in the same platoon in the Cameron Highlanders during WWII as was Hector and we looked forward every year to seeing Hector and Esther at the Cameron Highlanders' reunion in Ottawa. Sincerely, Frank & Lynne Wickson, St. Catharines, ON

A Mother's Love
A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of the creator's tender guiding hand.

I remember during spring,
I remember through fall,
I can't think of the speeches
Yeah, I remember them all
Who she was,
who she is,
Who she continues to be
will never leave home because a piece lies in me
We just got back up
Where was the time
I can't find you now you left me behind
I wish I could say "I'll see you tomorrow"
But tomorrow was yesterday
and what I want I can't borrow
I want to cry, I need to grieve
but you needed to go, you wanted to leave
I reach out now, and I can touch your skin
I'm only dreaming, I'm travelling
I'm trying to be strong, but there's tears on my face
And we keep on living while our time is erased
I've lost you both and I can't stop crying
I'm going through stop signs and you're back-seat driving
He let go, and so did you
We can't mourn a love so perfect, so true
What a beautiful way to go
I love you

Only one thing survives Death and that is Love. Esther loved many and was loved by many. She was loved best by her husband, Hector, and they are now together again. Their love was an inspiration to me. Robbie Burns was one of Esther's favourite poets, and his poem "My Bonie Bell" is a fitting tribute to a woman who was so well loved and loved so well.
My Bonie Bell, by Robbie Burns, 1791
The smiling Spring comes in rejoicing,
And surly Winter grimly flies.
Now crystal clear are the falling waters,
And bonie blue are the sunny skies.
Fresh o'er the mountains breaks forth the morning,
The evening gilds the ocean's swell;
All creatures joy in the sun's returning,
And I rejoice in my Bonie Bell.
The flowery Spring leads sunny summer,
The yellow Autumn presses near;
Then in his turn comes gloomy Winter,
Till smiling Spring again appears:
Thus seasons dancing, life advancing
Old Time and Nature their changes tell;
But never ranging, still unchanging,
I adore my Bonie Bell.
