Dear Erma, Nancy, Janet, Bruce and families - Once in a very great while, there are men like Gerald who walk this earth; and those of us who have the privilege having him touch our lives are truly blessed. He had the ability to brighten your day and make you feel special just by talking to him. We will miss him greatly! Erma, we are so sorry that we couldn't make the trip up to North Bay, to support you and your family during this difficult time. But please know that we will be holding you up in our prayers, keeping you in our thoughts and sending you all of our love. Our very deepest condolences, Don and Sonya

Having heard of the passing of my friend Gerry today, I thought of how I would describe him. Then I thought of this past Sunday's Superbowl and the fact that the word "Champion" is usually reserved for sports heroes like Eli Manning or Tom Brady. But to me, and in the real world, Gerry Rowsome was a Champion. And he exemplified those qualities in every facet of his life. I saw this in his open and constant adoration for his beloved Erma, his obvious pride in his children's accomplishments and how he would regale me every time we saw each other with the latest exploits about his contingent of exceptional grand children! THIS WAS A FAMILY MAN! In my business dealings with Gerry, he always exemplified the concept of win/win, understanding intrinsically that for a transaction to truly have value, each participant must win. And I know that must be true of anyone he ever dealt with. THIS WAS A BUSINESS MAN! He was also one of the most accomplished life insurance advisors to ever carry a briefcase. I have 2 filing cabinets of his client files to prove it! It has been a true privilege to care for his many clients since Gerry's retirement in 2001. And I know from speaking with his competitors that he was highly respected in our industry by his peers. No advisor ever wanted Gerry Rowsome to meet with a potential client after they did because they knew Gerry would end up with the client! And while I never had the pleasure to watch him operate I can visualize how Gerry would have helped a married couple to understand the financial ramifications of the death of a family breadwinner, and then help them act to put a well-structured and cost effective life insurance program in place to protect their loved ones. Who knows how many people Gerry helped protect their families or how many millions of dollars of life insurance he put in place over his career. THIS WAS A LIFE INSURANCE ADVISOR! And finally, and most important to me, every so often someone comes into your life and affects you profoundly. Knowing Gerry and observing his example these many years has made me a better father, financial advisor and person. So Gerry, as you head for your new agency, thank you for the lessons, and thank you for making us all better for knowing you. THIS WAS A CHAMPION!
