McKINNON: James C. “Sonny Jim”
Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Jim was the beloved son of the late Clifford and Hazel McKinnon, he was 81 years old. Loving brother of Phyllis Hoyt (Richard predeceased) of Whitby, Robert “Jack” McKinnon and his wife Ruth, Joan Dion (Denis Predeceased) and Dave McKinnon all of North Bay. He was predeceased by his sisters Mildred Duqette and Heather McKinnon. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, by his great great nieces and nephews, especially Kaeden, Hailey and Katie. Jim will be remembered by his lifelong friend Mervin Gribbons and his wife Janet of Sudbury. “Sonny Jim” McKinnon was one of the finest fastball pitchers ever developed in North Bay and is a member of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame (for more information please visit http://www.northbaysportshalloffame.ca/Inductee.aspx?ID=242). Jim’s family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday, December 15th from 11:00 am until time for a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M.
