Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center November 23, 2011 in his 88th year, in the loving presence of his wife Esther of 64 years. Loving father of Patti Ann, Loving grandfather of Lizzie, Annie, and Katie. Survived by his sisters Rita Cousineau, Louise Lefebvre, Madeline Buffett, Barbra Kotsilidi , Cynthia Leveille. Predeceased by parents Marie and Austin Fitzmaurice and stepfather Fred Waldorf, his twin brother Harry and younger brother Bernie. Born in Mattawa July 16,1923, Hector, a WWll veteran served with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, survivor of Juno Beach and member of the liberation forces of Holland. He met and married Esther Fielding in Scotland February 28 1946. He worked for Canadian National Railway for 31 years and retired in 1981. Hector spent his retirement years volunteering for the Legion para-bus, receiving an outstanding achievement award from Mayor Stan Lawlor in 1994 for services to the disabled citizens of North Bay. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Family will receive friends at the MARTYN & SLOAN “Mattawa Chapel” on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Memorial service at St. Anne’s Church at 1:00 p.m. Followed by burial of ashes at St. Anne’s Cemetery.
