Obituary of Stephen Coates

Born December 29, 1921 (Toronto) and passed away November 15, 2011 (North Bay) after a short illness. Dearly beloved husband of Marjorie (Watson) for 50 years. Loving and devoted Dad of Christine Henwood (Scott) and Janet Coates. Cherished Grandpa of Andrew and Justin Henwood. Loved brother of John Coates and uncle to Peter Coates and Linda Wingert (Jim). Sadly missed by Marjorie’s sister Irene, and many nieces and nephews, as well as family and friends in England and across Canada. Stephen was an artist, award-winning display artist for Simpson’s and Eaton’s in Toronto, a Department Manager of Eaton’s North Bay, salesman at Jack Adams’ Menswear, and employee of Canadore College. Stephen put his family first. Stephen also gave of himself and was involved over the years with various community organizations: a Boy Scout Leader in Toronto and North Bay, a Lion’s Club Member, and volunteer at all three Anglican parishes in North Bay. Stephen always had a great sense of fun and loved to share a joke and laugh with everyone. Thanks to the wonderful nurses in Emergency and 3A at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, Dr. Kolb, Dr. Finnis and Dr. Sogbein. Family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Nipissing Junction Cemetery following the service.
