Obituary of Wilda Derina McLaren

McLAREN, WILDA DERINA (nee HILL) Born December 19, 1925 in Rutherglen to Herb and Ida (Beckett) Hill. Passed away peacefully at Cassellholme Nursing Home with family at her side on May 4, 2017 in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Leonard McLaren in 1997 after 51 years together and by her infant daughter Katherine. Loving mother of Eldon (Lynn) of Belle River, Ruby Jobin (Gilles, deceased), Grant (Maple), Dyson ‘Jim’ (Ruth), Arlene Johnston (Len, deceased), Denver (Darquise) all of North Bay, Jackie McLaren (Joe Hiltz) of Mississauga, Monica McLaren (Michael Puccini), and Velma Morin (Fern Chayer) (Dave, deceased) of North Bay. Grandmother of 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. Survived by her sisters Mildria Paquette of Cassellholme North Bay and June Dean of Cambridge. Predeceased by her sisters Thelma Hill, Phyllis Neilson, Edna James and Iva Blanchard. Her brothers Ozzy, Velmore, Johnny and Jimmy Hill. Wilda was a homemaker who loved to quilt and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She loved to Knit and read, play bingo, dance and garden. Her favourite hobby was to fish with her favourite grandson David. She was a long-time volunteer at Cassellholme, member of the United Church and Women’s Auxiliary. She led a great life and will always be remembered for her love of life and her smile. A special thank you to Dr. Prins, Dr. O’Grady, Dr. Aylett and the staff of Cassellholme. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9pm. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday May 9th at 10:30am. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery Ruther Glen. In lieu of flowers donations would be greatly appreciated to your charity of choice.
