Carr, Charlotte "Myrtle" (nee McLachlan)
1921-2017
Myrtle passed away on August 28 at Eastholme at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Fred Carr. Mother to Elizabeth and her husband Stephen Benning of North Bay: Grandmother to Brian Benning and his wife Emily of Kemptville and Stephanie (deceased 2014) and her husband Ricardo Figueroa of Caledon. Great grandmother (Nanny) to Johanna and Jenna Figueroa and Aaron and Amelia Benning. She is also survived by her brother, Morris McLachlan of North Bay and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her parents Duncan and Lottie McLachlan, her sister Phyllis Vingoe of Cambridge and her in-laws, George and Sybil Wallace, Robert and Isobel Hambley and Robert and Joyce Carr of North Bay. Myrtle was born April 30, 1921 in North Bay, and was active in the community. She was a member of the Esperanza Club and the North Bay Granite Curling Club. She worked as Purchasing Secretary for the Nipissing Board of Education and became an avid duplicate bridge player after her retirement. She was also a dedicated sports fan who enjoyed curling, football, hockey and the Blue Jays. She was also very involved in Calvin Presbyterian Church which she attended since childhood. The family would like to thank Dr. Buckley and the staff of the Empire Living Centre and Dr. Cowan and the staff of Eastholme, especially 2N, for the wonderful care they provided in her later life. Respecting Myrtle's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Friday September 15, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. Internment will take place at North Bay Union at a later date. If desired, donations to the Calvin Presbyterian Church, Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
