Obituary of Julia Jane Tipler
TIPLER, Julia Jane “Julie” (nee Buckley) – January 10, 1946 – December 7th, 2017 died at Health Sciences North in Sudbury in her 72nd year. Julie was the beloved wife of Jack Tipler. They married on May 18th, 1968. Loving mother of Jeff (Kim) and Jon, she will be remembered by her grandchildren Jackson, Abbey, Einin, Alexia, Brayden and her sisters Christina Dillon (Michael) and Corrine Found (Rick). After 32 years, Julie retired from the Near North District School Board as an elementary school teacher. She was very active in her church, Calvin Presbyterian. Julie spent many years involved with Nipissing District Scouts Canada as a beaver leader and group secretary. She served as president of the local International Training in Communication (ITC) organization and was a polished public speaker. She was active with the Canadian Cancer Society daffodil campaign and with Packsac Smiles. Julie and Jack enjoyed many trips together traveling the globe and visiting some 38 different countries. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, during war times, Julie was very proud of her Scottish heritage and enjoyed her trips back to the homeland to visit with family. Long term executive members of Club 45, a dinner-dance club, Julie and Jack enjoyed dancing. They were also avid euchre players. Julie liked to walk the family dog and attend yoga classes. She was an avid reader and enjoyed solving sudoku puzzles. She loved to garden. Her pride and joy were her showcase yard, flower beds, and rockeries. Visitation will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment of ashes will take place in the family plot at the Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Calvin Presbyterian Church – Benevolent Fund or the Packsac Smiles (cheques only) would be appreciated by her family.
