Obituary of Rebecca Anne McGoldrick

McGoldrick, Rebecca Anne It is with much sadness that the family of Rebecca (Anne) McGoldrick announces her passing on August 17 following a brief illness. Originally from Chapleau Ontario, Anne was predeceased by her parents, BW Zufelt and Elsie Hunt, as well as her husband Michael (MJ) McGoldrick and sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Gartner (Sid) and Joan Cotter (Jim). She is survived by sister Leslie (Richard Morin ) and by her loving children, Jeff (Nancy Laundriault), Hugh (Joyce Giles), Laurie and Toby (Mark Hamel). Also mourning are her 7 grandchildren: Megan, Aidan, Michael, Jarret, Rebecca, Cole and Cody. Anne will be missed by the many friends she made through her community activities, including singing with the Baytones and doing research with the North Bay Genealogical Society. Our mother was always active in the community, being elected to for terms on the Chapleau School Board. But it will be her genealogical work that she will be remembered for the most. Beginning in 1976, Anne and her sister Betty began what would be a 40 year plan to identify all of their ancestors. And, this was done before genealogy was cool. Her work on the family brought her to England and the Eastern US on many occasions. In doing so, her research has left our family with an excellent understanding of our origins. And she did not stop there. Anne was responsible for mapping out countless Chapleau families, much to the delight of many. She will surely be missed. We invite everyone to join with us on Saturday August 19th at Martyn Funeral Home (464 Wyld St, North Bay) for visitation at 2:30 and the funeral at 3:30 followed by a reception.
