Obituary of James Allan Jackson

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of James (Jim) Allan Jackson on December 6th, 2024 at Nipissing Manor in his 84th year. He spent the last moments of his life lovingly surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving daughter Nancy Jackson (Darren Scott) of Chatham, his son Darren Jackson (Diana Cameron -Jackson) of North Bay and his granddaughters Kaitlyn Jackson, Jacqueline Quenneville (Giovanni Van Den Heuvel) and his grandson Nicholas Cameron. He joins his wife (predeceased) Beverley Jackson (nee Sullivan) in Heaven. Jim will also be missed by his long-time friends, Jim and Dorthy Hone, Kenny Prescott and his cousins David Jackson, Judy and Scott Fowler and Sheila Showalter. In addition, he will be remembered by the Sullivan/Berger family, his former son-in law Paul Quenneville and former daughter-in-law Chantal Anderson. Born and raised in Rutherglen, Dad was the son of the late James Herbert Jackson and Grace Rebecca Jackson. Dad dearly loved his cottage on Talon Lake. It was his “happy place”. His passion in life were both hunting and fishing. In Dad’s words, “A kid could not have asked for a better place to be raised”. It was at his cottage where he loved spending time with his many friends and family including his dear friend Ed Kolaska (deceased). Dad also looked forward to having the summer annual fish fry at the cottage with the Sullivan/Berger family, where they enjoyed his freshly caught pickerel and potato salad (made by mom). He truly loved the Christmas season, spending it with family, including his son Darren’s father-in-law Danny (deceased) and mother-in-law Josie Cameron. Dad will be forever missed by his dogs, Buddy and Bailey, who visited him often at Nipissing Manor and provided him with love and support. He was very proud of his gun collection and he would spend many hours polishing them overlooking the lake at the cottage from his porch. Dad had a vast knowledge and love of the outdoors which he shared with his children and grandchildren. We will miss our dad’s sense of humor, his love of life, his big booming voice and his laugh when he was telling us some of his many adventures of when he was a child. Dad was a gentle man. He always had that mischievous twinkle in his eyes (just like his mother Grace). He was very creative and had the skills to fix just about anything. He worked very hard to take care of his family, sometimes working two jobs when he needed to. He was very proud of the life he had created for his family with Beverley by his side. All in all, Jim lived his life simply and to the fullest. The Talon Lake cottage which he built will leave a beautiful and lasting tribute to this amazing man. A private celebration of life will be held next summer where he and his wife will be laid to rest on Talon Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be greatly appreciated as an expression of sympathy. Cremation has taken place. Special thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff who have taken great care of our father. You will be so missed, Dad. Until we meet again.
