Bruce Alkins Obituary

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Bruce on Wednesday November 6, 2024, at North Bay Regional Health Centre after a brief battle with cancer.

He had recently celebrated his 80th birthday while in the hospital. Bruce overcame the challenges of alcohol and became a staunch member of AA where he quietly supported many over 50 years of sobriety. Bruce also produced the weekly newsletter "Whisper on the Wind" for a number of years where he reported on a variety of municipal and other community events; he often claimed that controversy was important for the media, so he tried to "stir the pot".

Bruce is survived by his brothers Bill (Pat), Jim (Candy) and Dan (Rhonda), his sister-in-law Linda and his nieces and nephews Kelly, Tom, Melanie, Wesley, Ryan (Kelly), Tyler and Samantha and grandnieces Katherine, Ruth and Madelaine. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Tom and Nora Alkins, and his brother Bob. We will all miss his big heart, sense of humour and good nature.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Callander on Nov 24th from 1pm to 4pm.
