Obituary of Marlene Elizabeth Bobenic

Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marlene Bobenic on Thursday October 31, 2024, at the age of 85. Born February 5, 1939, to Edith and Allan Mclean. Marlene met and married the love of her life, Mr. Johnny Bobenic. They met on a train ride from North Bay to Toronto, as she was travelling to go shopping and Johnny was heading south to play professional hockey. On that trip, Johnny gave Marlene his seasons tickets and the rest is beautiful history. They were married on August 30, 1959. The celebration was held at the Red Line Inn, Callander, Ontario, which was owned by Mrs. McLean. That celebration lasted three days and their marriage endured until Johnny’s passing in 2007. Left to mourn are her loving children Brad Bobenic and Jann Bobenic Costante (Gerry). Also left to mourn are Marlene’s granddaughters Molly Bobenic and Brooke Costatnte Berube (Brad) who was Marlene’s pride and joy. Marlene has one great granddaughter, Drew Berube. Also mourning her passing are her sister Joanne Smith (Bill) and many nieces and nephews. Marlene was also predeceased by her loving daughter Pamela (Pammy) on February 25, 2022. There will be a small celebration of Marlene’s life at a later date.
