Robert (Bob) John Holmes
Passed away peacefully in his 94th year at Cassellholme in North Bay on October 9th, 2024.
Beloved husband of the late Theresa Marie Graham. Loving father of Robert "Rob" Holmes and his spouse Janet of Waterloo and daughter Heather Guido and her husband Joe of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandsons Christopher (Emma), Andrew (Krystina), Nikko (Jenna) and Dillon (Navey). He also leaves behind cherished great grandchildren Elliot, Charlie, Enzo and Jett. Bob was predeceased by his siblings Elizabeth (May), Joyce and James.
He served with distinction in the Royal Canadian Navy for 31 years, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Highlights included two NATO tours and a final post to CFB North Bay where he managed the Officers’ Mess. The next ten years were spent in the Canadian Coast Guard, working extensively on the east coast of Canada. Bob then retired back to North Bay where he enjoyed many more years surrounded by family and friends usually around a big meal or telling jokes at one of several social clubs he frequented.
