Bryan's life stood as testimony to the remarkable young man he truly was. He certainly brought hope, joy and positivity to the many people he touched, including me.
Knowing him since he was a young boy, I will always remember his kind & loving nature especially his big hugs. I had the opportunity to see him while I was working at Martyn's Funeral Home and enjoyed his many visits and chats we had. His kindness shone through every time.
He had great parents & sister who were his role models, and who gave him the big heart he shared with others in wanting to make the world a better place.
We feel your loss and pain. His memory will forever bring light to all of us who knew him. With all the warmth in my heart, I extend my condolences to you. Prayers & Hugs Louise (Rivet) Defonzo xo

Bryan was absolutely wicked at disc golf, he taught me how to play a good while ago and absolutely destroyed me. Thanks for the memories Bry. I'll miss chucking discs into chains with you, talking fish with you, and family dinners at mom's won't be the same without you. Have fun rocking out up there.

In loving memory ~ changemaker, social justice seeker, unwavering advocate, educator, giver, connector, and caring friend. Bryan, thanks for being you.
As one of Bryan’s colleagues, I came to deeply respect Bryan, his drive for change, and his ability to easily build strong connections. I believed in and supported his endeavours and vice versa. We were a team. At this time, it’s difficult to put my personal feelings into words so I thought, as a memory, I’d share some of his recent professional accomplishments.
Bryan can be admired for his highly purposeful life that centred his pursuit of social justice for community members facing the greatest inequities. He lived and breathed desire for positive change and modelled this for all of us - a leader in his own right.
Bryan is best known for his excellence in frontline outreach and undertaking management of the Warming Centre - a critical and challenging community program. I’d like to highlight Bryan’s contributions as a gifted community educator.
I am fortunate to have worked closely with Bryan on a local anti-stigma campaign called “See the Person”. As a team, we delivered a message of compassion and advocacy to over 1000 people locally. Despite hectic days at the Warming Centre with intense emerging challenges, Bryan stepped away and showed up ready to speak to groups of educators and service providers. He believed in community education. Bryan’s genuine, caring, and direct communication style and wealth of wisdom drew crowds closer to him (and our message!). He had them hooked on every word, deepening many individuals’ understanding of the challenges faced by community members and what they could do to create a more inclusive and just community. A true educator!
In 2023, Bryan was featured as a speaker at the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness Systems Planning Collective, the Lived Experience and Recovery Network Annual Conference, and the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness National Conference to End Homelessness which was held in Halifax.
I’m incredibly proud of Bryan, his many accomplishments, and his impact. He passed a torch for all of us to carry forward — shining light on the need for equity and compassion for one another. As Bryan would say through the campaign, “See the person. Be kind. Everyone has a story.”
Thank you to Bryan’s loved ones for sharing him with me and our community. May we all have peace and see Bryan in the waters, trees, clouds, and natural places he loved.
Lots of love,
Tawnia Healy

A Warrior of Kindness and Courage
Celebrating the life of Bryan Eade, a man whose resilience and compassion carved a path of light through the darkest sometimes ignored corners of our society.
Bryan was a warrior, not with weapons, but with understanding, dedication, and an open heart for those who had been forgotten by the world, the homeless.
Bryan’s journey was not an easy one. He knew the struggles of the mind intimately, as he himself battled with mental health challenges. Yet, it was perhaps this personal battle that fueled his profound empathy for others. He saw himself in the eyes of those he helped, understanding that but for the grace of circumstance, any one of us could find ourselves without a home, without a community, without hope.
But Bryan’s legacy is not defined by his struggles; it is illuminated by his victories, both personal and communal. He showed us that within the fragility of our minds lies the strength to change the world. He taught us that caring for others is the most profound expression of our own humanity.
He dedicated his time to advocacy, not just in words, but in deeds. Bryan was a hand that reached out in the cold, the voice that spoke up in the silence, and the presence that stood firm against society's indifference. He fought for shelters, for services, and for the dignity of individuals who had no place to lay their heads.
As we bid farewell to Bryan, let us not be engulfed by the sorrow of loss, but be inspired by the courage of his convictions. Let us carry forward the torch of his passion, igniting the same fervor in our actions and continuing the fight he nobly advanced.
Bryan, you may have departed from this physical world, but your spirit remains a beacon for all of us. Your battles, both won and lost, remind us that every day is a gift and an opportunity to make a difference. You have left an indelible mark on the hearts you’ve touched, and your legacy will continue to inspire acts of kindness and bravery for generations to come.
Rest in peace, Bryan. Your life was a testament to both the struggles and the power of the human spirit, and your memory will forever be a guiding star in the quest for a kinder, more understanding, honest, compassionate world.

I only knew Bryan very briefly, when I was first starting my career in mental health/addiction/homelessness. He was kind to me when I was overwhelmed and emotional about what I was facing for the first time. His reassurance and kind words were so comforting, reminding me that it’s okay to be a human being in difficult situations. I am so saddened to hear of Bryan’s passing, such a small moment with him impacted my whole career. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, Bryan was an empathetic and authentic individual, and I know this loss will be felt heavily by the community as a whole.

The people who experience homelessness in North Bay and those who are marginalized had an advocate in Bryan. He represented Nipissing District at the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness Convention in Halifax in the fall of 2023 to talk about what our district is doing to end the stigma about homelessness. Bryan was part of the "See the Person." campaign, having the courage to share his story as a person with lived experience who at one point was homeless.
Then, in 2021, members of the downtown churches got together to form the Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay. We have met many wonderful people along our journey who support those who are near or are experiencing homelessness. Bryan was one of the kindest and hardest working souls we had the greatest fortune to meet. Last June, he was our invited guest at our Potluck Dinner when he brought brownies to share with the committee. Then, on November 29, 2023, Bryan attended our Information Session along with Tawnia Healy from the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit to give an abridged presentation about the anti-stigma campaign. We met Bryan again, when we dropped off winter boots in December to the Unsheltered Hub that he was running on Fraser Street.
Your compassion and gentleness for all people will never be forgotten.
Bless you Bryan, you are forever in our hearts,
Leah Pierce

I had the opportunity to work with Bryan as a volunteer at the warming centre and had conversations through the Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay. It was also always a treat to meet him on the street and have a chat. I deeply respect him for his passion to support people experiencing homelessness and for his ability to relate with caring and with fairness to people. My sincere condolences to the family, to Maddie and to his many friends. He will be greatly missed in our community.
