The "B" and "Z" signal flags were flown by the Commander's ship to commend the actions of a good ship or sailor under their command. Using the Navy's phonetic language I would say "Bravo-Zulu" to you Ralph for your great service to Canada and North Bay. I only knew you as you stood quiet watch on the good ship "Deegan's", the flagship of Main Street, but the glint in your eye gave notice of your quality. Fair winds to your family.

We are sorry to hear that Ralph has passed away.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
We had a visit with Ralph at the store a few years ago. I think he played his trumpet for us.
I also remember Ralph turning up in Mitchell or Stratford with a trunk full of shoes that magically fit my Mum (Hilda) and Dad (Howard) perfectly. I still have a pair of Watermelon coloured high heel shoes from the 1960’s that my Dad bought from Ralph for Mum……can’t bear to part with them.
Another icon has left us.
We will be thinking of you all this weekend……..

Dear Pat and family:
Words cannot express how saddened I was to learn of Ralph's passing. He was a prince of a man in all respects and made me so proud just to say that he was my friend. Having played alongside Ralph in the 8th Field Squadron RCE (M) Band during my High School years in The Bay, I can personally attest to his excellent musicianship. He and my Aunt Ann made music history with the Rotary Club throughout the years. Sincerest condolences to the Diegel family on your great loss. Ralph will not soon be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely, John Dicker Orleans ON

Sending our condolences to Susan and her Family! Gwen and Ralph we dear people to me years ago when residing in the Bay. Many dinners together, good times! A shame life gets in the way and we lose touch with those that we were close to! Besides my skates the shoes I bought from Ralph we a constant reminder of his caring to me! Susan it has been a life time ago coaching you at the skating club. We were all so close back then! Your Dad lived a great long life and touched so many! Just know I understand your lose having lost both of my parents! Sending our love and appreciation to you to have known your Mom and Dad. Would love to be in touch again. Hugs to you and your Family! ❤️ Mrgowing9@ gmail.com
