I worked with Fred in the mid-70s at the NB Civic ambulance service. A great supervisor, a man of few words but we got the job done. Thanks Fred for your service to the community.

Fred, I was blessed to have you in my life for 34 years. You were an incredible role model and the greatest step-dad I could have asked for. You taught me many things over the years, and I'm proud to take after in your footsteps (Kilometers) I hope taking after your driving career I've made you proud, I will continue to drive and strive to be the best I can be. I have many, many memories with you, but the thing that brings me the most joy was watching you love and be the best Papa to Starling. We will both miss you greatly. ♡

Dear stepdad Fred, you have left a lasting impact on me. Our conversations and your presence will be sincerely missed. I remember great times as a kid, including trips to Florida, cruising in the red roadster, your love for old cars and playfully driving you crazy. Haha. Rest in peace. ❤️

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Fred. Fred wasn't just a colleague at Tisdale Bus Lines, he was a mentor and friend from the moment I started as a young coach driver back in 2005. His support and guidance were instrumental in my early years with the company.
We spent many years working together, two bus moves on numerous trips and bumping into each other in random cities. Fred's sense of humour and the playful nicknames he had for me are memories I will always treasure. He knew how to bring lightness to our work, making the journey enjoyable.
One memory that stands out was a trip to Collingwood. Fred and I went for dinner and I told our waitress it was his birthday knowing they would make him wear a hat and sing... the laughs we shared, and his commentary will always be a fun memory.
Fred's passing is a great loss to all of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His humour and spirit will be missed, but his impact on us will not be forgotten. On behalf of myself and everyone at Tisdale Bus Lines, rest in peace Fred.

On behalf of Nipissing Athletics and the Laker family i would like to express our deepest condolences to Joanna, Fred ,Tori and the entire Smith family on your loss. On a personal note i spent countless hours with Fred as he drove first Canadore and then Nipissing teams across the province .We spent many early breakfast mornings and late supper meals together and after i stopped travelling and he stopped driving we would still meet for coffee when we could. I will miss my friend-thank you for sharing him with us-he was a great driver, and his humour was second to none. May the memories you have of Fred light the darkened path you are all on right now..

I always called him Frederick, he never seemed to mind me not saying ''Fred''. Over the years I remember camping many times and sharing lots of laughter. Frederick was definitely a good man and certainly loved his wife Karen, children, step children and many Grandchildren. He loved spending time with them with so much joy. He will be so very missed by all of our family. Rest easy Frederick and one day we will all meet up with you again. ❤❤❤ June & Paul
