Obituary of James Young
James Alexander Young
His bright eyes and beautiful million-watt smile is gone today, December 1, 2023 due to a freaky accident at home on November 21st.
James (Jamie) Young, son of Kathleen (Kay) and brother to Rome Young.
Jamie was 34 going on 5 with every holiday, Christmas being his favourite. His special time with all the lights and music and our annual Christmas light tour with family and friends and seeing Santa’s substitute at the mall.
Jamie had many great angels in his life – special Olympics coaches for bowling, swimming, and curling. Gymnastics coach, educators who always seemed to go the extra mile for him (his smile and laughter made him easy to work with), speech-language, OT, PhysioT, drama teacher, riding teacher, behaviour therapists and doctors. Jamie loved being with and meeting new people and hoping to please.
Jamie had passport workers who meant a lot to him, one special one (Christine), who went out of her way to brighten his days.
Jamie did native drumming, loved music and to sing with all his heart, watch musicals and plays. He loved to ride his horse and play with his dogs. Jamie lived at Glendale group home in Powassan which he shared with 3 others who will miss him.
He came home every week and was looking forward to decorating for Christmas.
The staff at Glendale have been wonderful and important to him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Almaguin Highlands Community Living in Sundridge or Special Olympics – North Bay Chapter would be appreciated by the family.
No Funeral Service will be held.
Dear my special Dolly – from our favourite book – “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be. Love, Mom.
