It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Irene (Nee Collins)
October 21, 2023, at the age of 82, at the Algonquin Nursing home in Mattawa. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest August 29th, 2017, and her parents Walter and Josephine Collins, Her brother Gerald (Mercedes) and a baby sister, Edith, and a nephew Lloyd Pellerin St. Catherines.
Irene was born in Newfoundland. She is survived by her sister-in-law and brother in-law Cameron and Linda Pellerin from St. Catherines, Her nieces Patty from St. Catherines and her family, Gwen Collins (Kevin), Gina Collins and her nephew Wayne (Kelly) and their family from Newfoundland.
Irene will be sadly missed by her best friend Yollande (Gary) Maxwell, and long-time friends Jack Mary Eastwood. Her cousin Albert Pellerin (Sonya) of Mattawa, her cousin Susan Pellerin (Joe deceased) of Timmins and many more nieces, nephews, and cousins both in Mattawa and Newfoundland
Irene was a member of the Canadian Legion branch 254 and a member of the Golden Age club, where she loved to dance on Wednesday nights Irene was also a veteran of the RCAF.
There will be no funeral per Irene’s wishes, and she will be interred in Timmins.
In lieu of flowers Donations to the Algonquin Nursing home would be greatly appreciated.
At this time, I would like to thank the staff and nurses at Algonquin nursing home for the great care and compassion they showed Irene.
