Roy Wayne Smith
It is with great sadness that the family of Roy announce his passing on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. He was the beloved husband of Marian Arlene (née Rose), he was 86 years old. Loving father of Kim Smith (predeceased by Rick Deschene), Michael Smith (Carol), Laurie Konarek (Peter), and Suzanne Hawley (Jeff). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jessie, Jordan, Allyson, Christy, Curtis, by his great grandchildren Lium, Laila, Owen, Storm, and predeceased by his grandchildren Tasha, Brent, and Nathan. Dear brother of Laura and Danny. Also predeceased by his parents Elmo Smith and Marie (née Lemuire), and by his siblings Alice, Barb, and Marvin. Roy worked for the CPR and OVR and was called by most “one of the best” Signal Maintainers with the railway. He was well liked by everyone and cherished by his family. Roy and Marian were active members of the Omond Memorial United Church. Visitation will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday, August 17th from 6:00-8:00 pm, and on Friday, August 18th, from 10:00 am until time for a Memorial Service in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in the family plot at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Omond Memorial Church – General Fund would be appreciated by the family.
