Obituary of John Dennis Chadbourne
John (Jack) Chadbourne (1934-2023) leaves behind his devoted and much-loved wife of 69 years Dawn Chadbourne (Jessop), at the age of 89. He also leaves behind his children Dennis, Dayle (Pat), Dave (Cindy), Valerie, and Derek. Also grieving our loss are Jack's grandchildren Caitlin, Carly, Alexander, Ben, MacKechnie, Jack, great grandchild Laramie, brothers Mark and Carol, and brother-in-law Scott (Julie).
Jack was predeceased by his father Dennis, mother Mae, daughter Linda (Bob), and grandson John Cody (Pat & Dayle).
Jack was a wonderful example of a Christian, a Mason, a husband, a father, and a friend. He always had time for others and was the first to lend a hand to someone in need.
Jack was an avid reader, especially history, and he loved his garden. Most of all he enjoyed working.
Jack was born in Widdifield Township. In his younger years Jack enjoyed hockey, was a North Bay Nugget paper boy, and was an army cadet.
Jack had a successful career at Hillstad Distributors, as a business owner (Trout Lake Marina) and the Waterfront Marina manager for the City of North Bay.
Jack was a humble man of great will and Christian faith. He and Dawn were faithful and active members of Omond Memorial United Church. Jack was a dedicated retired member of the Masonic Lodge.
Jack joined North Bay Masonic Lodge No. 617 A.F. & A.M., G.R.C. in 1973 and was elected Master in 1981. He was the District Deputy Grand Master (DDGM) for Nipissing East District in 1990-91. He joined the North Bay Lodge of Perfection in 1975 and was Thrice Puissant Grand Master in 1993-94. He joined the North Bay Chapter of Rose Croix in 1975 and was Most Wise Sovereign in 1984-85. He was a member of Moore Sovereign Consistory, Hamilton, ON. joining in 1976. He was coroneted an Honorary Inspector General 33° on Sept 14, 1989, Crowned a Sovereign Grand Inspector General on Sept 14, 1996, and a member of the Royal Order of Scotland. Jack was a Past Worthy Patron, and a long-time member of Order of Eastern Star, Fidelis Chapter No. 99, and Algoma Chapter 139. A member of Rameses Shriners, Toronto ON, North Bay Rorab Shrine Club and long-time supporter of Shrine Hospitals for Children.
A celebration of life service will take place at the Martyn Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22, 2023, with Greetings at 10 am, followed by a Masonic and Christian services at 12Noon.
A special thank you to the Home and Community Support Services staff, and the staff at the North Bay Regional Health Center and the Sudbury Cancer Centre.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jack's name to Omond Memorial United Church or the North Bay Alzheimer Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts.
