Obituary of Richard Joseph Dion
It is with extreme heartbreak that the Dion family announces the sudden passing of Richard Dion, in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the young age of 59.
Richard (Rick) is survived by his adoring wife, Diane Warner-Dion, his sons, Alexander (Katie), Scott (Chin Phing Tan), and the light of his life, his grandson Elias. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second grandchild this November. He is also survived by Leslie Taylor (Houcin Aalami), his first wife and mother of his children.
Richard was the youngest of eight siblings. Predeceased by his parents, René and Marie (Boissonneault) Dion, he is survived by his siblings Régis, Céline Cloutier (Guy, predeceased), Lise Levert (Alain), Denis (Lisanne), Lorraine St-Jean (Michel), Germain (Raymonde), and Odette (Gerry Banning), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Richard had a long 37-year career in IT at Caisse Alliance in Kapuskasing and North Bay. He made some wonderful friends in his colleagues throughout his career.
Richard’s first love was music. He started playing the guitar at the tender age of five and became a very accomplished and talented guitarist. He didn’t read music – he absolutely felt it. Music moved through him and came out in his guitar. He performed in some bands, such as Longshot in Timmins, and Roadhouse and Frequent-C in North Bay. Anyone who was blessed to see him perform truly appreciated his talent.
The world has lost an amazing man, musician, and gentle soul. He will forever remain in our hearts and lives as we know he will be watching over us.
“Rest in peace, my dear, sweet loving husband. You will always be my soulmate. I married well.” – Diane
