Douglas Bangs

With great sadness, his family announces his sudden passing at home on Monday, May 22nd, 2023. Douglas Thomas Bangs was the beloved husband of Belinda (née Montreuil); he was 66 years old. Loving father of Andrew (Chelsea), James, Marc, Justin (Anika), and Kaitlin. His grandchildren will lovingly remember him. He was a dearly loved brother of Vivian (Mario), Lois (Jake), David (Libby), and Steven. Doug will be fondly remembered by his extended family, close friends, and community. His furry friends Walter and Jesse will sadly miss him. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Angéle Bangs, and his siblings, Pete and Marie.

Doug’s happy place was anywhere outside, but the deeper in the bush, the better. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, and fishing, always willing to have a friend by his side. He was quick with a line that would make you laugh and was known to share his dad jokes to brighten your day.

A private burial will be held for immediate family on June 17th, followed by a celebration of life at the Mattawa Lion’s Club from 1pm-4pm. The celebration of life will be open to the community, so please come and cheers Douglas with a glass of whiskey and share your best stories about his life with all who loved him.
