Jack was a wonderful brother, husband, grandfather and man. I know how devastating this is for the family but I-also know what a truly loving legacy he leaves behind for his family. May his memory be a blessing.

Sending deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire Serran family. Jack was at all times a giving person to all of us young (and at times mischievous) kids on Brookes Street. In every one of my interactions over the years, Jack always offered a listening ear and presented a kind heart. When we approached Jack to sponsor our softball team, he did more than just contributed to uniforms, balls, bats and registration fees, he contributed himself as well. We would not be surprised to look in the near empty stands at Johnson/Thompson and find Jack sitting in the sun, rain and occasionally snow cheering us on, season after season.
Jack was a fine a person as I ever met and know that he will be deeply missed by entire family.

Even though we knew this day was coming and Jack made it known to others by saying “ I’ve had a good life” it is still a shock when that day comes. We can now only extend our condolences to family, friends and neighbours because although Jack is gone in the physical sense, he will always be with us in the spiritual sense. If there is anything that we have learned from knowing Jack over the last 38+ years is that he always put others first. We shared tea under the apple tree, swapped stories and made new ones to add to our memory book of life. It is like Jack has always been there. He felt comfortable enough to ask for a favour without it ever being an imposition and the same was reciprocated when we needed a favour. We (as in both of us) built his shed and both of us put siding on our house with his steady eye making sure that mistakes were not made. A couple of years ago Jack called me over because he needed help with his kitchen ceiling fan. I was greeted by Jack standing on a step stool with his finger pierced by the chain hook. He wasn’t able to free himself or get down. Where’s your camera when you need it. See what I mean by memories and he made lots of them over the years.
We started amaryllis together over the last few years to see who would get flowers first or have the biggest plant. This year, the last Amaryllis for him was absolutely amazing, he definitely won the prize. Although next year will not be a competition, it will be a memory.
Our last visit with Jack was only a short time ago and even as he lay suffering in his bed, he asked how our kids and grandchildren were.
It is hard to put into words just how much he will be missed by family, friends and neighbours because Jack was truly an amazing man. Jack, just know that you were loved by our family.
We extend our condolences to his family and just know that he is smiling as he holds Elsie’s hand once again.

Elsie, Lynn, Sandy, Jack, Teri, and Jeff, my heart and prayers are with you all as you lay your Dad to rest this week. Jack Sr., was a big teddy bear, so kind and loved everyone. He gave our family many cherished memories over the past 60 years. We will all miss him dearly, but, none more than you, his children. Love and hugs to each of you.
