Obituary of Ruth Margeruite Hawkins
After a brief illness at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday January 19, 2022 in her 91st year. Dear wife of the late Donald Hawkins. Loving mother of Linda Hawkins (Hilliard Lindsay) of Windsor, Heather Roy (Danny) of Callander and Susan Seib (Clarke Stillar) of North Bay. Proud grandma of Donald Campbell of Sudbury and Chelsea Campbell (Alex Graham) of Callander, and great grandma of Taylor and Emily Graham. Survived by her brothers Bill Cox (Vicky) and Ken Cox (Cindy) and sister Shirley Fournier (Martin, predeceased). Also missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Violet Cox, her brother Don Cox (Mary, deceased) and sisters Reta Bell and Marjorie Veltri (Gerald, deceased). Family was everything to Ruth, as she was to us. The love we shared will always be with us. Ruth never complained and always had a smile and a sense of humour. She was an exceptional cook and liked to sew, even doll clothes. She loved going to church at Christ Church Anglican and loved to sing in the choir. Ruth worked as a cashier at the Towers department store before it changed to Zellers and stayed with them until her retirement in 1996. Thank you to Dr. Wilkens and the nursing staff at Water’s Edge Care Community, Pier 2, for their care and the nurses at the North Bay Regional Health Centre Emergency Department for their kindness and compassion. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a later date.
