Obituary of Marguerite Alberta McLeod
Marguerite McLeod July 18th, 1926 to December 8th, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of a truly unique individual. Marguerite Mcleod (nee Fetterly) stood firmly and proudly as the maternal figure head of her family. In her 95 years on this earth, her fun-loving nature and sense of humor coupled with her unrelenting resilience and strength made her who she was. Marguerite’s infectious laugh and beautiful smile will remain in the hearts of her family forever. Born in 1926 to parents Stan and Ruth Fetterly, in North Bay, Ontario, Marguerite spent much of her life in the area. As a young woman, Marguerite spent several years working at Beaties Bakery in North Bay, where the owner created a cupcake named after her called the “Lemon Marguerite”. She also worked at the Civic Hospital cafeteria for several years.
She is predeceased by her first husband Fraser Commanda, second husband Robert “Duke” Wellington McLeod and beautiful daughter Joyce Eadie (nee Commanda), as well as her siblings Harry Fetterly, Ron Fetterly, Howard Fetterly, Grace Lafleur and Ruby Willms. Marguerite was a loving stepmother to Dennis McLeod and wife Germaine. Adored mother to Diane Salvaneschi (nee Commanda) and huband Edward, Gloria Couchie (nee Commanda), Janet Long (nee Commanda), Paula McLeod-Beaudin and husband Guy and Sherry McLeod. Beloved Grandmother to Marina Westbrook, Cutler Couchie, Tammy Walling (nee Couchie) and husband Tom, Kimberly Salvaneschi, Tracy Boucher (nee Salvaneschi) and husband Robert, Darren Long and wife Candice and Jordanna Detmers (nee McLeod) and husband Jordan. Cherished Great Grandmother to Cheyenne, Alanna, Yolanda, Pamela, Dustin, Dryden, Kalem, Colton, Carter, Cora and Erin. Marguerite also had the distinct honour of being Great-Great Grandmother to five wonderful children. She is survived by her siblings Betty Holtz, Ruth Jones, Joy Lafleur and Wayne Fetterly. Marguerite leaves behind an amazing legacy and a very large family who will miss her deeply. Until we see you again…..
Respecting Marguerite's wishes cremation will take place, with a graveside service in the spring. A special heart felt thank you to all the staff on the third floor at Cassellhome, for their compassion and loving care.
