Obituary of Joyce Elaine Beam
Joyce Elaine (nee Wiper) BEAM
Unexpectedly, but with family by her side, Joyce passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Joyce was the beloved wife of 38 years of Kenneth Beam and the loving step-mother of Blake Beam (Michelina), Michael Beam (Laura), and Martin Beam (Michelle).
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jesse, Jackson, and Riley Beam, Emily Beam, and Christopher Tijssen. She was always in the moment when she spent time with them and they hold dear their many memories of week-ends at the lake and other visits.
Pre-deceased by her parents Lorne and Ada Wiper, Joyce is survived by and lovingly remembered by her sister Shirley Lehn (Neal) and their sons Chris (Christine), Mark (Joanne), and Craig (Karen), and by her brother Ron Wiper (Barb), and their children Paul (Janet) and Rhonda (Mark). She is fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Brett Giles (Jan), her sister-in-law Diane Fisher (John), and their children.
Joyce will be forever missed by her many friends, especially by the Friday Night Gang of Frys, Hilliers, & Serbas at the end of Sunnyside Lane in Bonfield with whom she shared many dinners and gatherings. She loved living on Lake Nosbonsing and spent her time boating with Ken and their friends, gardening, and taking care of all the things that needed taking care of. She also enjoyed horse-back riding and grieved the loss of her cherished horse Charity who gave her 30 years of love.
She and Ken spent many years travelling to a variety of island destinations in the Caribbean and their shared sense of adventure and genuine interest in the people they met often resulted in invitations to enjoy the hospitality of the locals.
Joyce was a strong and independent woman who approached everything in the most practical and positive way. Her eclectic work life was a reflection of her ability to adapt to whatever changes came her way. Predictably, her battle with cancer was both fierce and determined.
Many thanks to her doctors and the wonderful and caring staff at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital, and the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
Cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium and some of her ashes will be spread in the places that she loved. Friends may pay their respects at the memorial visitation being held at Martyn Funeral Home on Saturday, September 25th from 2 – 4 pm.
