I have known Cecile for the last 25 years and in my mind, I see her riding her bike around town visiting friends, relatives and shopping. She was an active lady for many, many years. She was present at all family functions (for as long as she was able) and enjoyed sitting at the head of the table listening to all and participating in the conversation. She was an exceptional cook and baker. She taught this expertise to her daughters and older granddaughters. Her perogies, beet soup and kapusta were to die for. You knew her contributions at get togethers would be memorable. Her food was THE BEST.
At her 90th birthday party, Cecile gave a short speech. She was grateful and proud of her family. Her Catholic faith was important to her and she was moved to tears when Henry and I brought her some Holy Water back from a trip to Fatima.
She was a delightful lady (also known as Grandma Boo) and set a wonderful example of how grandparents should live, a warm memory for her family.
