Obituary of Valerie Gail Harling
Valerie Gail HARLING (nee Coghlan)
May 16, 1951 - May 4, 2021
It is with absolute heartbreak and sadness; we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beautiful Mother. Under the compassionate care of Drs Brill, Carter and Jinnah and the amazing nurses and staff at NBRHC, she passed peacefully with her daughters by her side. As the eldest of her siblings and the matriarch of our family, she made everyone feel loved, welcome and included with her kind heart and soul.
She was an angel on earth, a few days shy of her 70th birthday. She was smart, hilarious, witty, polished while also full of surprises and irreplaceable. Cherished mother of Wendy Degagne (Patrick), Lisa Bennett (Greg), Stephanie Harling (Jamie) and loving grandmother of Kylie, Rayna, Morgan, Graci, Olivia, Mackenzie, Rohan, James and will reconnect with her precious grandson Karam, in heaven. Predeceased by her husband, Edward Harling, her parents Mable nee Jamieson and Allan Coghlan and Elsie nee Norman and Reginald Harling of North Bay. Beloved sister of Wayne, Linda (Rick Lees), Fred (Ann), Catherine Harwood (Greg) and Nancy O’Donnell (Dan). Survived by Edward’s sisters’ Norma Gauthier (Bob) and Margaret Ehman (Mark) and predeceased by his brother Howard (Joan). Valerie will be sadly missed by her entire family, friends and everyone who had the opportunity to know her.
Her heart was so full of love, she generously gave to people throughout her life, no matter their relationship or interaction with her. No one ever left her house hungry, without a hug or a wave from the living room window.
Valerie retired in recent years following several decades in real estate including time as a director on the real estate board. She adored her colleagues; and clients who she helped find, purchase or sell their first, forever and everything in between home.
With her faith in God, Valerie was not afraid of death, she knew she was going to heaven and would say “till we meet again”. We are confident because of this she was at peace when she passed.
Till we meet again, we love you Mom xoxoxo
Due to Covid restrictions, a proper celebration of her life will be held at a future date tba
In Valerie’s honour we challenge you to do random acts of kindness, use the time you have to live and love without boundaries, plant flowers, enjoy life, post wonderful messages on social media, donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity for children in her memory.
