Obituary of Rupert Ernest Frederich Wiemer
Rupert Wiemer
December 27th, 1935 – January 4th, 2021
Heaven’s choir has gained a beautiful voice!
Soon after joyfully celebrating his 85th birthday, Rupert Wiemer passed peacefully surrounded by his loving children.
Rupert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years Vickie (Wilson) Wiemer, his father Hans F, mother Irmgard, brother Hans G, and sister Christel Fuerniss. He is lovingly missed by his children Anita Romanoff (Leigh Ridenour), Rosie Brown (Scott), and Doug Wiemer (Sandy); his grandchildren Alec Brown (Lauren Ostic), Wren Wiemer (Katya), Zach Brown, and Jessica Wiemer; his great-grandchildren Sonja and Hunter; his sister Wally Jensen and brother Wilfrid; and many nieces and nephews.
Rupert had a serious side and a hard-working nature, but his true joy, enthusiasm and appreciation for life and his devotion to family were inspiring. His brilliance, skill, creativity, versatility, talents, insatiable wonder and curiosity; his sense of fun and love of good food will always be remembered.
Rupert had many vocations in his life and was proud to have served in the Canadian Air Force. He worked at DuPont/Fabrene as a machinist but is also well known as an electronics repair master, owning and operating Iceberg Electronics. He will also be remembered as a Big Brother, bridge player, and community volunteer. He never missed a performance of The North Bay Symphony and was a member of The North Bay and Calendar Horticultural Societies and the Davedi Club. Through years of dedication to helping others, Rupert voluntarily gave 186 donations of blood.
Music was an integral part of Rupert’s soul! He could play several instruments by ear and sang throughout his life in different choirs, including at Christ Church where he worshiped for decades. He also had passions for frogs, Formula 1, astronomy and was always happiest if he had a pet cat.
Rupert’s family thank the Alzheimer’s Society, Dr. Carter, the dedicated PSWs of Northeast LHIN, staff at the Critical Care Unit- NBRHC, and at Nipissing Serenity Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
Rupert never missed an opportunity for a hug, to tell a stranger their baby was beautiful or to twirl around the dancefloor. Vickie had been waiting with open arms, and now they continue their dance together.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday May 21st, 2022, at Christ Church, 312 Greenwood Ave North Bay, ON P1B 5G4. If you would like to attend his service, OR share a memory please call Anita at 705-476-0859.
