Obituary of Harold Gerald Sloan
May 2, 1939 – November 21, 2020 Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Mattawa Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. Son of the late Mickey and Lorraine (Belanger) Sloan, devoted husband of 55 years to Pauline (Lamothe), loving father of Jennifer (Chris) Sloan, Stephanie (Jeff) MacKillican and Sue Sloan, grandfather to Jacob, Jaden, Annie and Lily. Much admired big brother of Anne (Richard), Claire, Joe (Joanne), Harry (Patty), Mae, Bob, Joan (Robert), Diane (Sean) and predeceased by his brother Rusty (Jane). Chummy lived his best life with his dream job as a Park Ranger in Algonquin Park. He enjoyed sports such as hockey, curling and golf, and spending time in nature bird-watching, hunting and fishing. We will miss his many stories that always made us smile. The family sincerely appreciates Dr. Wilkins and the staff at the Mattawa Hospital for their compassion and dedication to Chummy’s care. Thanks also to the VON for their support. Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no visitation or service at this time. The family appreciates donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Mattawa Hospital in his name.
