Obituary of Annie Steele

STEELE – Annie

The Steele family sadly announces the passing of our beloved mother Annie Steele on Tuesday  September 22, 2020 while in her 95^th year. Born October 3, 1925 to Scottish parents Catherine and Alexander MacPherson in the Hamlet of Kinloch Rannoch, Scotland.

Annie was predeceased by her husband of sixty four years Gordon (dc. 2005), her parents and one sister Binky.  Devoted mother of four children, Jackie Pletsch (Murray), Sandi Lewis, Dwayne Steele (Irene), and George Steele (Barbara).  Will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Dana, Lori, Mike, Stephanie, Justin, Megan and great grandchildren Macy, Matthew, Brennan, Isaac, Miles, Rose, Emily (dc.).

In her early years Annie was a fixture working at Ted’s and Ivan’s Snack Bar.  She loved to bake and knit items for all her family members.  She spent many hours caring for Gordon’s standardbred race horse Valiant Nathen which she nicknamed “Scotty”. She became a real fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Redhead for his service and all staff members on the 2^nd floor, Waters Edge for making our mother as comfortable as possible. 

In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday September 29 at 1:30pm.  According to the current pandemic restrictions attendance will be limited.  Please call the funeral home at 705.472.8810 to confirm your presence at the service.   Interment of her ashes to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  If desired donations in Annie’s memory to Trinity United Church will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.  Online condolences may be offered at www.martynfh.com.
